High school students welcome to Audition 101

High school students who plan to audition for college music or theatre scholarships will learn valuable tips at Audition 101: A Crash Course in Preparing for Your College Performing Arts Scholarship Audition on Sunday, Oct. 12, at Cornell College.

Theatre Audition 101 is from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., with registration beginning at noon in the Thomas Commons. This clinic includes:

  • Discussion of selecting monologues for auditions
  • Ideas for questions to ask during auditions and interviews
  • Demonstrations by the Cornell student thespians

Music Audition 101 is from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., with registration beginning at 2 p.m. in Kimmel Theatre. This clinic includes:

  • Discussion of suggested repertoire and stage presence
  • Ideas for questions to ask during auditions
  • Demonstrations by Cornell student musicians
  • One-on-one sessions with faculty on audition repertoire (if notified of title/composer seven days in advance)

An overnight stay on Sunday is available to seniors interested in attending Cornell’s Open House on Monday, Oct. 13, which includes a campus tour, a visit to a Cornell class to see how One Course At A Time works, and lunch.
