Cornell College wins national design awards

Cornell College has won three Awards of Excellence from the University and College Designers Association for the design of admission recruiting material.

The UCDA’s judges evaluated more than 1,000 entries and gave out 179 awards.

The awards were for the cover of the college’s 2013-14 viewbook, for the design of the viewbook as a whole, and for the design of pieces targeted at high school juniors. Allan Recalde, the college’s creative director, designed the viewbook cover and the junior pieces, and art-directed and designed the complete viewbook, assisted by Dean Poblete, a freelance designer. All the pieces were printed by Cedar Graphics in Cedar Rapids.

The winning pieces will be on display at the UCDA conference in Long Beach, California, in September.
