Léonie de Jonge and Jennifer Knox, two Cornell College seniors, have been accepted to graduate programs in international relations at Cambridge and Oxford universities, respectively.

de Jonge, who is participating in the Semester at Sea program, said she was notified of her acceptance somewhere between Vietnam and Singapore. She called the application process daunting, but credited Cornell for helping her through it.

“I don’t think I could have done it without the guidance and support of the Writing Studio staff, my professors, my advisor, and my roommates,” she said.

She said she is going to consider the offer more fully once her semester-long program is over.

Knox said that attending Oxford has been a dream of hers since childhood, and that she was thrilled to be offered the chance to be part of that community.

“I’ve been impossibly fortunate in the mentors, family, and friends who have supported me through this process for several years, and I know that I wouldn’t have been successful without their tireless advocacy on my behalf,” she said.

Knox has received offers from several graduate programs, and plans on making a decision before mid-April.
