Shillinglaw talks about John Steinbeck on NPR
Susan Shillinglaw ’73, a professor at San Jose State University who is an expert on the writing and life of John Steinbeck, was interviewed about “The Grapes of Wrath” on “The Diane Rehm Show” in January. 2014 is the 75th anniversary of “The Grapes of Wrath.” Shillinglaw is the scholar in residence at the National Steinbeck Center and author of several books about Steinbeck.
In the interview, Shillinglaw, along with Joseph McCartin and Leslie Maitland, talked about Steinbeck’s history, writing, and intentions, along with his political ideology and the ongoing impact of “The Grapes of Wrath,” perhaps his most widely-read book.
