The Cornell College Office of International and Off-campus Studies has announced the winners of its fourth off-campus study photo contest.

The first place winner was by Maricruz Gutierrez ’14, and taken in San Salvador, Bahamas.

Second and third places were both taken by Kailey Colestock ’14 during a course in Jerash, Jordan.

Cornell’s distinctive One Course At A Time curriculum is uniquely well-suited to off-campus study. Students can go off campus for a few days, a week, or an entire block with courses led by Cornell faculty and designed around the One Course curriculum, or they can take part in semester or summer off-campus study programs offered by other institutions.

Cornell courses that go off campus to study are able to do so because no other courses conflict with the scheduling. That allows athletes to study off-campus during their off-season, for example, without worrying about missing practices or games. In all, 46 percent of the class of 2013 studied off campus during their time at Cornell.
