Allos Musica playing Music Mondays on Nov. 18
James Falzone’s Allos Musica will perform the second Music Monday concert of the year on Monday, Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in King Chapel.
Featuring clarinet and various ethnic winds, the oud (an ancient Arabic lute), voice, accordion, and percussion instruments from around the world, this ensemble explores the intersection of divergent streams of contemporary classical, jazz, and traditional music from the Middle East and Europe. Allos Musica has toured extensively and released a highly regarded album entitled Lamentations in 2010. “Though the Arabic influence is unmistakable,” writes music critic Peter Margasak in The Chicago Reader, “the music’s emotional clarity and lyrical grace is universal.”
General admission is $10 ($5 for students) at the door. Admission is free to Cornell students, faculty, staff, emeriti faculty, and retired staff, and to Purple Pass holders. The Purple Pass is free to residents of Mount Vernon and Lisbon and families with children enrolled in the Mount Vernon and Lisbon school districts.
