New Technology: Successes and Struggles by Michelle Herder, assistant professor of history. Professor Herder will discuss an assignment from her Block 1 class, which used Neatline, an online service which allows users to create and annotate interactive maps.

Groups of first-year students researched a particular piece of Medieval travel writing and created online exhibits using Neatline. Professor Herder will discuss how she developed the assignment, and what challenges she and her students ran into with Neatline.
