David Hilmers graduated from Cornell College in 1972, went into the Marines, and became an astronaut. He flew on four space shuttle missions, and after retiring became a physician.
Hilmers is an associate professor at Baylor College of Medicine, a doctor, and works on global health. Each year he goes on four to six volunteer medical missions. He visited Cornell College April 2 and spoke about his experiences and how he followed his lifelong dream of becoming a physician.
