Mock Trial team heading to Nationals
For the fifth time in Cornell College’s seven years of sponsoring a Mock Trial program, a team will be competing in the post-season of intercollegiate mock trial competition.
A squad will compete at the Opening Round Championship Series tournament the March 16 and 17. The tournament will be held at Washington University in St. Louis.
More than 300 schools of all sizes, geographic locations, and type field teams at the start of each competition season. Approximately 530 squads—Cornell, along with many other schools, fields several squads each year—competed at one of 25 regional tournaments throughout the February and approximately 192 squads will compete at the eight opening round tournaments held in March. The top six teams from each opening round site will compete at the National Championship Tournament in April in Washington, DC.
The Cornell College Mock Trial Team is a project of the college’s Center for Law and Society. Now in its seventh year, the team has been to the national championship tournament three out of the past four years. In 2010 the team placed sixth in the nation.
