G. Homer Skarin ’43

G. Homer Skarin ’43, who served for nearly 30 years as clerk for the U.S. House of Representatives Appropriations Committee, died Sept. 24, 2012. He was 91.

Upon graduation from Cornell College, Skarin served in the Navy during World War II. After the war, he earned a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Michigan. During his long career in Washington, Skarin helped to write bills and organized hearings on subjects from exploration of space to veterans affairs. He is survived by his wife, Lois Kaylor Skarin ’44, four children, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
