Events to honor Martin Luther King Jr.

The Cornell College Office of Intercultural Life is hosting events Jan. 20 through 24 to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. The first event, which will take place on Sunday, Jan. 20, is
a screening and discussion of "The Interrupters,
" the story of three people in Chicago who try to stop violence in their communities. On Monday afternoon
faculty, staff, students and guests will share how King influenced their lives
. This event will also include spoken word poetry, praise dancing, and readings from King's speeches. The
annual Martin Luther King candlelight vigil
takes place Monday evening. On Tuesday Daniel Johnson, assistant principal at Dubuque Senior High School will
talk about the message and commentary
in the animated television series "The Boondocks." The final event is a
screening of the documentary "First Generation"
on Thursday evening.
