Alumnus’ company wins major grant
Welvie LLC, a surgical benefits company where Cornell trustee Ted Meads ’67 is senior vice president for sales and partial owner, won a $6.8 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The grant will help the company, which is based in St. Louis, educate health care consumers in Ohio about their decisions. The St. Louis Business Journal had a short story on the grant and the company.
According to the article, the grant was one of 107 made in the past several months. The grants are expected to save the health-care system an estimated $1.9 billion over the next three years. Awardees were chosen for their innovative solutions to health-care challenges and their focus on creating a well-trained health-care workforce.
