Relay for Life set for May 11
Cornell College’s annual Relay for Life will run from 7 p.m. May 11 to 7 a.m. May 12.
The night will include games, demonstrations and ceremonies throughout, starting with an opening ceremony and survivor lap at 8 p.m. There will also be free food throughout the night.
There will also be a Fight Back ceremony at 1:30 a.m. and a closing ceremony at 6 a.m. Students will offer dancing classes, exhibitions, games, face painting and more. A complete schedule is below and you can find out more about the event here.
The college’s Office of Civic Engagement and volleyball team are also hosting a Relay Recess on Thursday, May 3 at Washington Elementary in Mount Vernon. This is the fourth annual Relay Recess (formerly named Mini-Relay for Life), a fun way to educate children about cancer and cancer prevention. The event is specially designed by the American Cancer Society for elementary students.

11-11:30 p.m.: Slick Shoes (class)
11:30 p.m.-midnight: Chess and Games (Egg Race and DDR)
Midnight-12:30 a.m.: Dance Team (dance clinic)
12:30-1 a.m.: Octave
1 a.m.-1:30 a.m.: Fight Back Ceremony
1:30-2 a.m.: Octave
2 a.m.: Lyrically Inclined
2:30 a.m.: Women’s Basketball Team (Knockout)
3 a.m.: Volleyball Team
3:30-5 a.m.: Games (Frozen T-shirt contest, Toilet Paper Beauty Pageant, Pie Eating Contest, Dodgeball, etc.)
5-6 a.m.: Yoga
5:45 a.m.: Sunrise Lap
6 a.m.: Closing Ceremony
