Jonathan Stroud, vice president for enrollment at Cornell College, has announced that he’s leaving in order to accept a position as vice president for enrollment and communications at Earlham College in Richmond, Ind., effective June 30.
Stroud, who came to Cornell in 2002, oversaw the admission and financial aid offices. During his time at the college, Cornell set records for enrollment, which included the largest, most academically qualified and diverse First-Year classes in the college’s history.
“While I embrace the wonderful professional opportunity offered me by Earlham College I am experiencing a real sense of loss at leaving the Cornell College community,” Stroud said. “It is amazing to reflect on all that has been accomplished at the college in the last decade. I am grateful to have been a participant in this exciting period of growth and development. I am confident that President Jonathan Brand and the Cornell community will achieve many more milestones in the years to come.”
Cornell President Jonathan Brand expressed his gratitude for Stroud’s decade of service to the college.
“Thanks to Jonathan, Cornell has experienced record enrollment and important increases in the diversity and academic quality of its student body, all rendered more impressive by a very challenging environment for recruiting students nationwide,” Brand said. “We are grateful for his able leadership and excited for him as he contributes to Earlham’s success.”
Founded in 1859 as a Quaker select school, Earlham is a private liberal arts college with nearly 1,200 students and, like Cornell, is recognized as one of the Colleges That Change Lives.
Cornell will launch a national search to find Stroud’s successor.
