Lowell Lange ’50, a three-time NCAA champion wrestler and a standout on the legendary 1947 wrestling squad that stunned the nation by capturing the NCAA and NAAU wrestling titles, was back on campus this fall.

Lange came with his daughter Stephanie and her husband, Robert Allen. Also accompanying him were three grandchildren, Megan, Meredith, and Macy.

They came with a Suburban filled with bubble-wrapped memorabilia Lange is loaning to the college. The collection includes a large photo poster of Lange, a framed display of the Life magazine spread on the 1947 Cornell wrestling squad, a collection of his medals and a shadowbox filled with memorabilia from his trip to Japan for the U.S. vs. Japan wrestling competition.

Part of the collection Lange loaned now hangs in the conference room that bears his name in the Paul K. Scott Alumni Center at Rood House. Scott, you may recall, was Lange’s wrestling coach for all four years at Cornell.
