“Modeling Anatomical Surfaces from Medical Image Data Using Nonparallel Contours” by Ross Sowell
Ross Sowell, instructor of computer science, will speak this Feb 23rd on “Modeling Anatomical Surfaces from Medical Image Data Using Nonparallel Contours.” Recent advances in surface reconstruction algorithms allow surfaces to be built from contours lying on nonparallel planes. Such algorithms allow users to construct high quality surfaces more efficiently by using fewer contours. However, current medical imaging systems do not support contouring on nonparallel planes. In this talk, Sowell will present work that seeks to bridge the gap between the new surface reconstruction technologies and bringing those methods to use in clinical practice.
