John Meyer

Former Professor of mathematics John Meyer died Nov. 29, 2011, in Holland, Mich.. He was 74.

CR_2012_spring_Page_42_Image_0003Meyer came to Cornell in 1965, after teaching at Wartburg College in Wartburg, Iowa. He earned a Ph.D. in mathematics in 1972 and taught at Cornell until 1983. After leaving Cornell, he taught at Albion College in Albion, Mich. and at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa. Upon retiring in 2002, he and his wife, Susan, settled in Holland, Mich.

In addition to his work at Cornell, Meyer was active in the Mount Vernon- Lisbon community. He and his wife were founding members of the Mount Vernon-Lisbon Ambulance Service, and he and politics Professor Craig Allin answered the first call made by the ambulance service in 1974.
