Year’s final Music Mondays concert on Feb. 13

Cornell College will host its final Music Mondays concert of the year on Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in King Chapel.

King Chapel, the site of Music Mondays concerts

The concert will feature Boris Andrianov on the cello and Alex Kobrin on the piano. They will perform  Beethoven’s Cello Sonata no. 4 in C major, Shostakovich’s Sonata for cello and piano in D minor and Britten’s Cello Sonata in C, as well as Schumann’s “Fantasiestucke” and Sollima’s “Lamentatio.”

Andrianov has participated in many international festivals including Colmar, Dubrovnik and Rheingau; performed in Tokyo Opera City, Tokyo Suntory Hall and the Vienna Konzerthaus. His CD of Rachmaninov and Shostakovich sonatas with pianist Uri Urasin on the Quartz label received the Gramophone’s “Editor’s Choice” award.

Kobrin is the winner of numerous international piano competitions – notably the gold medal at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. He has collaborated with many major orchestras such as New York Philharmonic, Tokyo Philharmonic, English Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Verdi, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Moscow Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, and the Dallas Symphony.

General admission for each concert is $10 ($5 for students) at the door. No advance ticket sales, no reserved seating. Admission is free to Cornell students, faculty, staff, emeriti faculty, and retired staff, and to Purple Pass holders.

An elevator will be installed in King Chapel by fall 2012. In the interim the building is not wheelchair accessible.
