Spanish department play “Botanica”

On May 8th, the Spanish department presents its annual play, “Botanica,” by Dolores Prida and directed by Marcela Ochoa-Shivapour. The play, performed in Spanglish, explores cultural conflicts of three generations of Puerto Rican women in East Harlem. The action takes place in a “botanica” (herbal, spiritual store) owned by the family, where progress and tradition encounter several conflicts. Free admission. Located in the Black Box.
