Americorps Week
AmeriCorps Week is coming to Cornell College May 9-14. See all the incredible work AmeriCorps volunteers do in the community as well as discover ways you can make an impact on critical issues by becoming involved in volunteerism and serving in AmeriCorps. Throughout the week, there will be opportunities to talk with current AmeriCorps members and alumni of various AmeriCorps programs about their service experiences. Then, join ICAP members in a service project Saturday, May 14
Kick-off AmeriCorps Week on the Orange Carpet with ICAP and the CEO. Stop by during your lunch break for an opportunity to talk with current members and alumni of various AmeriCorps programs about the positive impact AmeriCorps has on communities nationwide. Also learn how you can make a difference through serving in the AmeriCorps.
ICAP and the CEO will host a lunch session with Justin Villere of the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service. Join this AmeriCorps Week special event to discuss the community benefits of AmeriCorps and how you can become involved. Villere is the education and youth development program officer at the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service. Before joining the Commission’s staff, he served in AmeriCorps*NCCC (Class XIII, Charleston Campus, ’06-’07) and AmeriCorps*VISTA (’09-’10). He completed his VISTA term through Iowa Campus Compact with GEAR UP Des Moines, a program in Des Moines public schools that connects low-income high schoolers to postsecondary education. He received his B.A. from the University of Colorado-Boulder and an M.P.A. from Cornell University.
