Candlelight vigil for Japan

The Cornell College Chaplain and Spiritual Life Office, its Soul Friends and Interfaith Understanding/Exploration
team, Civic Engagement Office, and Eyes of the World are holding a candlelight healing vigil for Japan disaster relief on Tuesday, April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Ink Pond on Cornell’s campus. Rain location is Allee Chapel.

The vigil will feature reflections by Japanese students, compassion meditation, and floating luminaries in the Japanese tradition of Kinuko with messages and prayers of healing peace for the spirits of those who have died, and resilient hope for all who grieve.  Those interested can make a luminary at the Ped Mall booth during the lunch hour April 12.

A free-will offering for Red Cross disaster relief in Japan will be collected during the vigil, and in exchange for origami Peace Cranes at The Commons Info Desk, Ped Mall booth, and at the entrance to The Holocaust Survivor Lecture on Thursday, April 7 at 11:10 a.m. in King Chapel.
