Two Mock Trial squads advance

Both teams in Cornell College’s Mock Trial program have qualified for the opening round of the National Championship Tournament in March.

Team 1204 finished the Great Midwest Regional Tournament in Davenport, Iowa this weekend with a record of six wins and two losses, while team 1203 finished with a record of five wins, one loss and, two ties. Sophomore Thomas Kirk was named an Outstanding Midwest Regional Attorney and first-year Melissa Mannon also won an attorney award. Two Cornellians were named Outstanding Midwest Regional Witnesses: senior Jennifer Chang and junior Lisa Chen.

The teams will travel at the end of March to St. Paul, Minn. for the opening round of the national championship. This is the third-straight year Cornell Mock Trial has qualified for the national championship series in the program’s five year history.

Last year, one of the teams placed sixth in the nation at the national championships.
