President-elect on liberal arts panel
Jonathan Brand, President-elect of Cornell College and President of Doane College in Nebraska, was on a panel that re-affirmed the value of a liberal-arts education at the Council of Independent Colleges’ Presidents’ conference.Brand was on a panel with Sanford J. Ungar, a former director of Voice of America who is now president of Goucher College and John B. Wilson, president of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in New Jersey.
During their session, the panel made the point that private liberal-arts colleges often serve lower-income students more effectively and at a lower price than public colleges and universities. You can read a Chronicle of Higher Education story about the panel here.
