Lecture on the roots of hip-hop

Lasana Hotep, a consultant, educator and researcher, will give a multimedia lecture Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m. about the roots of hip-hop and rap music.

Rap music is a multi-billion dollar industry. However, few people know the history of the hip-hop culture which spawned rap music. This multimedia presentation covers the environment in which hip-hop was born, its elements, and the global response to the movement. The talk will also examine the challenges and opportunities that are found within hip-hop.
