Jonathan Stroud, VP for enrollment at Cornell, was quoted in an article in The (Cedar Rapids) Gazette on July 14 about gender balance at colleges.

The story, which focused mostly on the number of women students at the University of Iowa, University of Northern Iowa and Iowa State University, also included the enrollment statistics for private colleges in and around Cedar Rapids. Cornell’s enrollment has been between 50 and 53 percent female.

From the article:

“We have a very nice balance here. I know nationally, it’s not uncommon for small liberal arts colleges to be 58 or 60 or 62 percent female,” said Jonathan Stroud, Cornell’s vice president for enrollment. “Female students just seem to be a little more attracted to the smaller colleges.”
