Chris Carlson, who completes two years as dean of the college this month, will continue his service to the college by becoming special assistant to the president on July 1.
In a continuation of his leadership during transition, Carlson will assist interim president Jim Brown. Carlson served as vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college after a short-lived retirement from teaching sociology for nearly 30 years. He also held the positions of faculty director of first-year programs and advising. He has the longest Cornell affiliation of any President’s Council member.
