Cornell College’s Relay for Life raises 2nd most in the nation

The Relay For Life at Cornell College was recognized for their fundraising efforts by the American Cancer Society. The chapter won the National Top Five Youth Per Capita award for raising $50.20 per capita for Relay For Life of 2009. That total put them first in the Midwest and second in the nation, according to co-coordinator Dyuti Majumdar.

The 2009 Relay for Life at Cornell raised a record-breaking $61,500, including $11,000 in corporate sponsorships. This is the second year in a row that the chapter was recognized as being in the top five per capita. In 2008, the team ranked fourth in the nation.

Planning is already under way for this year’s relay, scheduled for May 14, 2010, at 8 p.m.  in the Small Multi-Sport Center. To sign up to create a team or to donate to the event, visit http://relayforlife.org/cornell
