MOUNT VERNON — A student production of “The Vagina Monologues” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, and 2 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, at Cornell College’s Black Box Theatre in Armstrong Hall.

Suggested donation fee is $3, with all proceeds benefiting a local women’s shelter.

Juniors Monica Brown and Sarah Levy are directing the play in conjunction with V-Day, a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. Through V-Day campaigns, local volunteers and college students produce annual benefit performances of “The Vagina Monologues” to raise awareness and funds for anti-violence groups within their own communities.

Over a dozen Cornell students will appear in the play celebrating women’s sexuality and strength. Playwright Eve Ensler wrote “The Vagina Monologues” following interviews with more than 200 women about their views on sex, relationships and violence against women. Please note that the play includes sexually explicit material.

The Cornell performances are sponsored by the Third Wave Resource Group (TWRG) and the Student Theatre Council.
