Quink up next for Music Mondays
MOUNT VERNON — The Dutch a capella vocal group Quink will perform on Monday, Feb. 8, as part of Cornell College’s 12th season of Music Mondays.
Music Mondays concerts are at 7:30 p.m. in King Chapel on the Cornell campus. General admission is $10 at the door and $5 for students. Admission is free to Cornell students, faculty, staff, emeriti faculty, and retired staff, and to Purple Pass holders.
Quink is a five-member Dutch a capella vocal ensemble that began concertizing in 1978. They perform music stretching from the Middle Ages to contemporary songs. At Cornell they will perform an eclectic combination of French Renaissance music, “BiBaBo” — a quirky, funny, piece written for Quink — and an assortment of lyrical 20th century pieces, mostly English.
In the year 2000 Quink was asked to sing the world premiere of a piece by the Dutch composer Simeon ten Holt in Utrecht. Director Ramon Gieling made a short film with the five singers, based upon this piece. The movie is called “BiBaBo,” with Quink singing and acting. It was premiered during the Netherlands Film Festival in September 2004.

The remaining Music Mondays concert will be the all-female Moscow String Quartet on Monday, March 8.
