Dyan Smith, 2009 Honorary Alumni Award
Dyan, the Alumni Association of Cornell College is grateful for your loyalty to the college.
You have been part of the Cornell community for over 40 years. In fact, you lived in the campus house next to Rood House with your new husband, John Smith, Class of ’71, during his senior year-your junior year at the University of Iowa. That house was where you hosted your first Cornell “functions.”
You have supported John in his college leadership as a Trustee, as chair of the Extraordinary Opportunities Campaign, and now as Chair of the Board. You graciously assisted with the 2009 winter Board retreat planning in Florida, and hosted a trustee and alumni event at your Florida home. With John, you are among the college’s most generous financial supporters. We are grateful for your investment in Cornell students and, through those students, in a more enlightened world.
We have been pleased for all these years to have you as part of the Cornell family. Now, in recognition of your long-standing and multifaceted support of Cornell, the Alumni Board welcomes you as an honorary alumna.
