Cornellian receives Aegon scholarship

MOUNT VERNON – Sam Peters, a Monroe resident and a sophomore at Cornell College, has been selected to receive an Aegon Transamerica Foundation Scholarship for the 2009-10 academic year.

Five scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each have been awarded to business majors of sophomore standing or above who have earned a grade point average of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale and are Iowa residents attending selected independent colleges within the state. The Aegon Scholarship Program is administered by the Iowa College Foundation, which represents 24 independent colleges and universities across Iowa.

Jack Jones, president of the Iowa College Foundation, said this program reflects Aegon’s appreciation of the value of an education in business at Iowa’s private colleges and universities. Aegon’s commitment and support to the students who study at these institutions will help shape the future leaders of Iowa business.
