Seventeen Cornellians have been elected to Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest and most widely respected academic honorary society in the United States.

Elected were seniors Emily Burnham, Laura Blythe, Erin Casey, Shannon Claxton, Kelsey Feser, Jeremy Frank, Amber Fricke, Amanda Jepson, Stephanie Heathcote, Danielle Merriman, Jessica Morton, Audrey Saunders, Stephanie Schmeling, Jessica Strains, and Zari Zahra, and juniors Jeanna Kadlec and Rachel Spriggs.

Cornell’s Delta of Iowa Chapter will hold its induction ceremony April 18 following the Student Symposium. These students will have their names added to the permanent plaque in Cole Library listing all members elected to Cornell’s chapter.

Invitation to join the society is based upon distinguished performance in a broad range of liberal arts courses. Only 270 colleges and universities nationwide have established chapters, and approximately 15,000 students each year are invited to become members.
