MOUNT VERNON – The Cornell College Mortar Board raised $370 for the Cedar Rapids Public Library by offering some special helping hands on Tuesday.
Five licensed massage therapists from the Cedar Valley area lent their talents to the fundraiser on Nov. 18 to help raise money for the flood-damaged public library.
The Cornell College Mortar Board is a senior honors organization that has chosen to focus its efforts this year on helping to restore the Cedar Rapids Public Library. Christie Davis, a Mount Vernon-based massage therapist, helped co-ordinate the event.
“I was very excited to see that there was a group at Cornell that wanted to make raising funds for the library a priority for the year,” said Davis. “I consider it a priviledge to help coordinate this event and the many people involved in it.”
Massages were offered $5 for 5 minutes on the Cornell College Orange Carpet.
Other therapists who donated their time included Katie Heeren, L.M.T., from Mount Vernon; Karon Quarderer, L.M.T. from Cedar Rapids; Melissa Chamberlain, L.M.T., and Jean Thomas-Dietsch, L.M.T., instructors from Capri College.
