Student awarded business scholarship
MOUNT VERNON – Emily Burnham, a Spencer resident and a senior at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, has been selected to receive an Aegon Transamerica Foundation Scholarship for the 2008-2009 academic year.
Five scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each have been awarded to business majors of sophomore or above standing who have earned a grade point average of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale and are Iowa residents attending selected independent colleges within the state. The Aegon Scholarship Program is administered by the Iowa College Foundation, which represents 24 independent colleges and universities across Iowa.
Jack Jones, president of the Iowa College Foundation, said this program reflects Aegon’s appreciation of the value of an education in business at Iowa’s private colleges and universities. Aegon’s commitment and support to the students who study at these institutions will help shape the future leaders of Iowa business.
ICF, which is one of 36 members of the Foundation for Independent Higher Education, has consistently been a national leader in channeling corporate support to private higher education.
