MOUNT VERNON — On Saturday, Jan. 26, Chicago’s legendary comedy theatre The Second City will appear at Cornell College in King Chapel at 8 p.m. The performance, “One Nation, Under Blog,” will feature some of the best sketches, songs and improvisations from The Second City’s 45-plus year history.

General admission is $10 at the door. Admission is free to Cornell students with college ID, faculty, staff, emeriti faculty, retired staff and their families, and to holders of the Purple Pass. Purple Passes will be available to Mount Vernon and Lisbon residents at the door. Doors will open at 7 p.m. There are no advanced tickets or seating.

Founded in Chicago in 1959, The Second City has become the premier training ground for the comedy world’s best and brightest. Their alumni list includes Mike Nichols, Elaine May, Alan Arkin, Joan Rivers, Robert Klein, Peter Boyle, Harold Ramis, John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, George Wendt, Martin Short, John Candy, Bonnie Hunt, Tim Meadows, Chris Farley, Mike Myers, Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Horatio Sanz, and Ryan Stiles.

The Second City is the kickoff event in an annual series of performances and lectures funded by a gift from alumnus Richard Williams ’63 and his wife, Marlene. The annual series will sponsor one lecture and one performance each year. For more information on the Williams gift, click here.
