MOUNT VERNON – Cornell College’s 70-voice Concert Choir and 22-voice Chamber Singers will perform their Holiday Choral Concert, “Wrapped in Song,” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, in King Chapel. Admission is free. The choirs are under the direction of Dr. Lisa Hearne.

The Chamber Singers will feature junior voice major Matt Roberts in “Yo m’enamori d’un aire,” a song of the Sephardic Jews of the Balkans; three contemporary madrigals on Shakespearean texts by American Emma Lou Diemer; “Veni, Emmanuel” by Zoltan Kodaly; a jazz ballad “If Ever I Saw” by Darmon Meader; and a jazz rendition of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

The Concert Choir’s program will include selections from Benjamin Britten’s “Ceremony of Carols”; a gospel song “He Never Failed Me Yet” featuring sophomore Kami Zbanek; traditional carol “Still, Still, Still”; and a double-choir motet “O filii et filiae” by German Volckmar Leisring.

Piano faculty member Joyce Strabala will accompany the choirs.
