MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon native Lisa White has been named alumni director at Cornell College.

She will replace Ruth Miller, who is retiring in December after
8 1/2 years as Cornell’s alumni director. The alumni director is responsible for planning and implementing all alumni events and activities of the college.

White has been marketing and tourism director in Mount Vernon-Lisbon since August 2006 and also president of the Mount Vernon High School Alumni Association Board. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School, earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa and a master’s degree from the University of Iowa, both in music, and did doctoral studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music. She is a past president of the Mount Vernon Community Theatre Board and she directs the Mount Vernon United Methodist Church Youth Choirs. She is an adjunct voice instructor at Cornell.

“Lisa is a wonderful addition to our team,” said Peter Wilch, Cornell vice president for alumni and college advancement. “She has a great familiarity with the local community, an understanding of the mission of Cornell and an eagerness to keep the college connected with our more than 10,000 alumni.”

White and her husband, Todd White, director of admission at Cornell, and their two children live in Mount Vernon.
