MOUNT VERNON — Cornell College received $9.2 million in total gifts during the year ending June 30, 2002, including a record $1.58 million in contributions from alumni and friends to the annual fund.

The annual fund finances general college expenses including scholarships; staffing and acquisitions for Cole Library, which is also the Mount Vernon public library; convocations and lecture series; faculty teaching and course development; music tours; athletic teams; student-faculty research; and maintenance of and enhancements to Cornell’s historic campus.

The remainder of the $9.2 million was allotted for capital projects ($5.2 million), unrestricted use ($1.1 million), the endowment ($1 million) and restricted uses specified by the donors ($320,000).
