MOUNT VERNON — Cornell College’s steel drum bands and chorus will give their final concert of the year Wednesday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m. in King Chapel. Admission is free.
The bands, Pandemonium and the Two-Can Pan Band, and the Calypso Singers will perform selections including “Daddy, Daddy, Daddy,” “Yield not to Temptation,” “Mr. Big Stuff,” “Shame and Scandal,” “Rant and Rave,” “Songlines,” “Mambo” from “West Side Story,” “Comedian’s Gallop,” “My Blue Mood,” “Tropical Sunset” and “Sing It!”
In 1999 these students went to Nice, France, for Carnival, where they performed in stage and parade venues before crowds of 200,000 to 500,000 people. The annual Carnival festival attracts spectators from all over the world and includes an international array of performing groups. Pandemonium was the only band representing the United States.
Pandemonium and the Calypso Singers are directed by Cornell music professors Martin Hearne and Lisa Hearne.
