Poet James Galvin, senior faculty member at the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop, will read from his work at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, in Hedges Conference Room, The Commons. Admission is free.

Galvin’s prose and poetry, including “Lethal Frequencies,” “Elements,” “The Meadow” and “Fencing the Sky,” often reflect his affinity for the unrefined Wyoming landscape. Galvin has a home in Laramie, Wyo., where he has worked as a rancher part of each year all his life.

Galvin’s honors include Guggenheim and National Endowment for the Arts fellowships, plus the prestigious Academy of American Poets Prize.
