MOUNT VERNON — Cornell College students will stage a comedy, Plautus’ “Miles Gloriosus,” (“The Braggart Soldier”) outside Allee Chapel on Sunday, April 16, at 6:15 p.m. and Monday, April 17, at noon. Performances are free.

Students in the Introduction to Latin Literature course will employ a “Star Wars” theme for the play, a tale about a boastful soldier with a bad personality who kidnaps an Athenian’s girlfriend to Ephesus. The Athenian enlists the help of a slave, a whore, an old man and a maid to rescue his girlfriend. The Cornell production stars Melanie Dedecker, a freshman from Aurora, Colo., and Sean Sornsin, a senior from Rockford, Ill. The play will be performed in English and Latin.

In case of rain, performances will be held in Alumni Hall ballroom.
