Nicholas Even ’84, 2014 Leadership and Service Award
Nick Even, member of the Class of 1984, for more than 25 years you have dedicated your career to securities and shareholder litigation while also supporting the arts.
As chair of Haynes and Boone’s national securities and shareholder litigation practice, you have served as defense counsel in more than 100 shareholder class actions and other securities-related proceedings. You began as an associate working on the Time-Warner-Paramount merger contest in the late 1980s, and in 2009, you tried the first case involving a shareholder rights plan.
Support of the arts has always been a priority of yours. You serve as vice president of the Dallas Opera Board, as a Trustee of the Dallas Opera Foundation, as a director of The Arts Community Alliance, and have served as President of the WaterTower Theatre Board. Your service has also extended to Lamda Legal, the Human Rights campaign, and The American Red Cross.
With degrees in history and French, you were involved on the Hilltop in Mortar Board, French Club, Performance Arts and Activities Council, the Cornell Gay and Lesbian Alliance, and Student Senate. You were elected to Phi Beta Kappa and went on to receive your law degree from Harvard Law School in 1987, then worked in New York City before moving to Texas. You have been recognized as a Top Rated Lawyer in Securities Law by American Lawyer Media and peer review rated Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory.
