1 student dies, 1 injured in car accidentMarch 24, 2013
One member of the Cornell community was fatally injured and another injured in a car accident Saturday night, March 23.
Madison “Addie” Hubert, a first-year student from Colorado, was killed in the accident on Highway 1 south of Mount Vernon.
Sophomore Colin Bertucci was injured in the accident and is listed in stable condition at an Iowa City hospital. Colin is not receiving visitors at this time.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Addie and the injuries to Colin,” said President Jonathan Brand. “Cornell is a close community and everyone is affected.”
A gathering will be held at 10:30 a.m. today for residents of Dows Hall, where Addie lived. A campus gathering is scheduled at 3:15 p.m. today in Allee Chapel. The chapel will remain open until 11 p.m.
