St. Francis of Assisi Feast Day with Blessing of the AnimalsSeptember 29, 2011
The Soulfeast Chapel on Oct 5th will feature St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, lover of creation’s beauty, kisser of lepers, and one who lived in solidarity with the poor and oppressed. The service will include a Blessing of the Animals ceremony which is welcoming of all friendly faculty and staff pets, and includes a special appearance by Taco the Therapy Donkey. The service will also include brief homily on the life of Francis, with prayers and hymns honoring earth’s beauty and goodness. Communion/Peace Eucharist is optional for people and pets. Everyone is welcome. Rain location: Allee Chapel.
