English courses travel to Africa, the Boundary Waters and Chicago
September 1, 2010Experience Southern Africa, The Boundary Waters of Minnesota, or Chicago’s Newberry Library with the English Department. Interested students should speak with their advisors during registration, or contact the respective professors, about these 2010-2011 off-campus opportunities:
Southern African Art, Literature, and Culture in Context (ENG 3-374, Reed), will focus on the literature of Southern African, examining the role of the arts in developing nations.
Advanced Topics in Creative Writing: Creative Writing and Southern Africa (ENG 3-381, Entel), will enable students to respond in multiple literary genres to the culture and landscape of these countries.
Modern American Literature: Encountering the Wilderness, Literature and Photo-Writing at the Boundary Waters (ENG 1-347, Hankins) will enable engagement with this stunning wilderness through reading, writing and photography.
Study Medieval and Renaissance Drama at one of the leading research libraries in the country, Chicago’s Newberry Library (ENG 8-322, Stavreva).
