Whisler joins Cole LibraryFebruary 19, 2009
MOUN VERNON – Laurel Whisler has been appointed to the position of college librarian at Cole Library effective July 1.
“I’m excited about the new position and am looking forward to beginning my work at Cornell and Cole Library,” said Whisler. “Our family looks forward to living in Mount Vernon and being part of this wonderful community.”
Whisler’s husband, Bruce, is a trumpeter and music instructor. Their daughter, Katherine, is nearly 7 and “looks forward to second grade in her new school,” said Whisler.
Whisler earned a B.A. in music at Earlham College, an M.A. in music at Pennsylvania State University, and an M.L.S. at Indiana University. She has held administrative positions in libraries the past nine years, and currently serves as the assistant director of library services and reference librarian at Southern Wesleyan University in Central, S.C.
Greg Cotton served as interim college librarian while the search was undertaken.
